- What time is my surgery?
- patients are informed about the time of the procedure by the hospital registration 24 hours before the operation. In the case of treatments taking place on Monday, the information is provided to patients on Saturday.
- What should I do if my COVID result is positive?
- in the case of a positive Sars-Cov-2 result, the procedure is postponed to two weeks from the planned date of the procedure. The patient is to be quarantined. There is no need to perform another test.
- What should I do if I do not have a hepatitis B vaccination certificate?
- a vaccination certificate can be obtained from the GP at the surgery. In the absence of vaccinations, when signing the consent to the procedure, it is possible to indicate consent to the procedure without current vaccinations.
- What should I take with me to the hospital?
- blood tests performed, medical documentation, identity document (ID card), personal belongings (towel, something to change, flip-flops, necessary cosmetics).
- Do I need to bring my razor?
- no. Before the procedure, the patient gets the razor and has to shave the operated limb before the procedure.
- Do I need a vascular surgeon consultation?
- in the case of major procedures on the lower limbs (ACL reconstruction, suturing the meniscus, arthroscopy of the ankle joint, ...?) consultation of a vascular surgeon is necessary to assess the risk of thrombosis.
- Do I have to consult an internist and cardiologist?
- consultation with one of the specialists is enough, unless the patient is chronically treated for other diseases (diabetes, hypertension, arrhythmia, etc.)
- Will I stay overnight in the hospital?
- in the case of major procedures, such as shoulder arthroscopy, the patient remains in the ward, regardless of the time of the procedure. In the case of other procedures, if the procedure takes place in the afternoon, the patient will be discharged home overnight, if the general condition allows it.
- Will I get a sick leave?
- Yes. Each doctor will issue a certificate for the appropriate time, you only need to report it to the operator before or after the procedure.
- Will I get a prescription?
-Yes. Upon discharge, if necessary, the patient receives a prescription.
- Do I have to have an EKG done?
- ECG is necessary for all patients over 60 years of age. and patients treated with cardiology.
- Can I have my nails painted?
- for safety reasons, please wash off the nail polish, especially in the case of hybrid / gel nails.
- Do I need crutches with me?
- in case of procedures on the lower limbs, you should take crutches with you.
- What should I do if I don't have any crutches? Can I buy from you?
- Yes. Both crutches and all other orthopedic equipment can be purchased at our hospital.
- Where can I have tests for the procedure?
- tests can be performed in any facility that has a laboratory / diagnostic point. The tests can also be performed at the Dworska Hospital.
- Do I need a urine test?
- urine testing is necessary in the case of procedures involving the planned use of implants, e.g. anchors, screws, plates, etc.
- What kind of anesthesia will I have?
- in the case of procedures on the lower limbs, we use spinal anesthesia (in the spine), if the patient wishes to sleep, the anaesthesiologist uses additional medications. General anesthesia is used in the case of procedures on the upper limbs, abdominal procedures, spine procedures and hip arthroscopy. In the case of smaller treatments, we assume the so-called block (e.g. the limb is anesthetized from the knee down, from the elbow down, etc.
- Can I pay for the procedure by card?
- Yes. Cashless payments in the COVID era are welcome ☺ We accept card, bank transfer and cash payments.
- Will I wear the brace after the procedure?
- the operator ultimately decides about each immobilization of the operated limb. For shoulder arthroscopy, we use a special orthosis with abduction, for meniscus sewing a clock brace with an adjustable angle of bend, for collarbone surgeries usually a standard sling, after bunions special orthopedic shoes with relief of the forefoot, after major foot correction procedures and procedures within the Achilles tendon, pneumatic lower leg shoe, after ankle stabilization procedures a bonded orthosis supporting the stabilization of the joint. All orthoses can be purchased in our hospital, both reimbursable and fully paid for by the patient.
- Is my doctor a good specialist?
- see the profile of doctors on our website. Our hospital employs only specialized doctors who have devoted their entire professional period to practice and training their skills.
- Can anything happen to me during the procedure?
- each procedure carries a risk that is specified in the consent to the procedure. We attach great importance to patient safety, therefore consultations of various specialists are required, and in the case of chronic diseases or the elderly, full documentation of previous treatment, which is always carefully studied by the staff before the procedure.
- What about rehabilitation?
- rehabilitation is one of the most important factors in recovery. It is safest to visit a physiotherapist for the first time before the procedure, in order to get instructions on exercises preparing for the procedure and recommendations for use in the first days after the procedure. The patient is always informed about the post-operative rehabilitation by the operator and receives detailed post-treatment recommendations. Rehabilitation can be performed in our hospital, we have special discount packages for operating patients, and our physiotherapists are in constant contact with doctors, thanks to which they know how to operate each doctor and his recommendations, and additionally they can ask a doctor for a consultation at any time during rehabilitation.
- Can I drink coffee before the treatment?
- before the procedure, eating meals should be finished 6 hours before the planned start of the surgery, liquids can be drunk up to 2 hours before the procedure. It can be water, or tea, preferably without sugar.
- Will someone be able to be with me in the ward?
- at present, in the era of an epidemic, there is a total ban on visiting. During hospitalization, the patient is under the care of nurses, exceptions apply to elderly people who require constant care and children.
- Do you have a deposit?
- the hospital is not responsible for items left in the ward, so please do not take valuables with you. Patients have at their disposal a bedside cabinet and a large wardrobe in the sick room.
- When should I change the dressing?
- each patient receives detailed instructions from the operating doctor after the procedure. Most often, a dressing change is recommended every 2-3 days, in some cases the dressing is changed by a doctor during a follow-up visit.
- Can I return by car after the procedure?
- driving vehicles after surgery is prohibited.
- What should I do if something happens to me after the procedure?
- if there are any disturbing symptoms after the procedure, immediately contact the operator. If the patient does not have a doctor number, call the hospital registration office and ask for an urgent contact with a doctor.
- How long will my treatment take?
- always ask your doctor about the duration of the procedure. However, do not follow only the time given by the operator, sometimes the procedure may be longer.
30. Can anyone see my results before the procedure?
- all the results sent to the e-mail office operacje@dworska.pl are carefully checked by qualified nursing staff (in case of doubts, the results are always consulted with the anaesthesiologist or the attending physician). The nurses always reply to e-mails, but if the patient does not receive a response, everything is fine and nothing has changed.
- What will be the cost of implants for the procedure?
